Today began much the same way as yesterday; with Elena running a fever and feeling pretty crummy. The fever has stuck around pretty much all day, but Elena has had brief moments where she felt "OK". Thankfully one of those times was when she received a visit from Kelley O'Hara, a member of the USA Olympic Gold Medal winning Women's Soccer Team! Kelley's visit definitely brightened Elena's day! We thank her for taking the time to visit not only Elena, but all of the children here in the Aflac Cancer Center and for bringing her gold medal with her. It was a real treat to meet a real Olympic Champion!
After this great surprise, Elena seemed to have a better afternoon overall. We were able to walk her laps without much pain or fear of nausea, and catch up on some of her other daily tasks. It is so nice to have our sweet girl feeling more like herself! Please pray that this continues into the night and for all of her tomorrows! She deserves it!
