Today was another productive day here at CHOA. Elena had a chest x-ray at around 9:00 this morning to check her lungs and to see if it would give the doctors any insight as to why she needs oxygen at night and when she is resting. A BIG praise is that the x-rays were negative for fluid. We are going to work on Elena's cardio and do more deep breathing to try to help open her lungs.
Another BIG praise is that Elena's white count went up from .16 to .17. I know this is not a big difference, but I've seen medals handed out for less. We know that this number has to get a lot higher, but it is a step in the right direction.
Other than that it has pretty much been status quo around here in Rm # 3206. We are focusing on incremental increases in all that we think we can control, like laps and mouthcare etc., and are sticking with the FROG approach for all of the rest and are going to Fully Rely On God!

Hey Tater, sounds like things are slowly looking up. Keep up the good attitude and determination. It is contagious to those of us in our own battles. Oh and I heard that laughing helps open your lungs, so try for some good ole belly, crying ones. Megan cries when she laughs hard, mostly at the silly thing Aiden does or Rory says. Love you and praying for you bunches!

Yay for white blood cells!!
ReplyDeleteBravo for white cells. Just want to take a minute to thank Mark & Christie for the daily devotion you show to those of us who can't be there, but want desparately to be part of your lives during these times. I know it must be challenging to you to make time each day to share your pain and your joy, but let me tell you guys, it means so very much to us out here who anxiously await each days post. We love you all so much, thanks for letting us in your lives. Rainey
