Day + 22

Despite a fourth night of having a platelet transfusion and Lasix, we are happy to say that today has been a better day! Praise God!

Today, Elena has completed almost all of her jobs and her aches, pains, and nausea have lessened a little. Overall, things are looking up.

Please continue to pray for Elena's body to start producing red blood cells and platelets.  These two things are no where near the great pace of the growing white cell count.  However, we have been reassured that this is normal.  White cells engraft first, followed by red, then platelets.

Please pray that as Elena grows stronger and stronger each day,  the terrible fatigue and all over achiness will lessen, that she will soon begin to eat and drink on her own, and that she will stay fever and infection free.

Please pray that while engraftment is happening - there is not one single cancer cell remaining in her body.

Please pray that tonight will not include a fifth straight night of a needed transfusion.

Pray that tonight will only be filled with much needed, deep, peaceful, restoring sleep.

In Him,
The Tates

  3. Thinking of you all constantly. If there was any way I could ease her pain and make it easier for her, I would. Keep fighting, Elena! I miss you!

  4. Elena, I couldn't imagine what you are going through. You are by far the strongest girl that I know! You are beautiful in every single way! I'm glad that you are starting to get better! I know things are rough, but I'm so thankful that you haven't given up! Keep that beautiful smile on your face! God only puts hard things in people's lives who he knows can handle them! I will continue to pray for you and your family! I miss you! Get well soon!

  7. Today while praying for you, Elena, the Lord brought to my memory the time when I spoke to the kids at NFUMC about Kenya, and how you took notes, asked questions and made observations that were so wise. Someday, when you a missionary somewhere (perhaps in Africa), I know we will look back on this time as when God made you stronger, more patient, and more compassionate toward those who are enduring hard times. In the meantime, though, I am continuing to pray that all these pains, discomforts and symptoms turn into platelets, joy and victory! Love to all the Tates - Susan Arthur
