Thursday Evening Update

Hanging out waiting for surgery!

Praise God - Overall, today has been a good day!

Elena 's surgery went well. Her line has been placed.
Tonight, she will receive three different kinds of chemo through her line.
While sedated for the CV line surgery, she also had a lumbar puncture. They took spinal fluid out so it can be tested for leukemia cells and she also received chemo to treat her brain and spine as a precaution.

She has been back resting in her room since about 3:45 pm.
She is now awake and has started to talk. Her voice is hoarse and her throat hurts from the tube. She still has not had anything to eat or drink since last night.

Thank you for continuing to storm the heavens for us!

Tonight please pray for a restful night's sleep.
Pray for there to be no complications with her newly placed line.
Pray for the incisions to heal quickly and not get infected.
Pray for all of us to stay mentally, physically, and spiritually strong.
There were definitely moments of weakness for all of us today!

Pray for Liv to stay strong too. Pray for her to be bold and ask questions when she needs to.
Pray for Liv to feel loved and cared for and not to get lost in the shuffle.
She did not go to school today as planned. She has been with us all day. We know that was the right decision for everyone!

Since we were all here, Dr. Lew went ahead and wrote lab orders for all of us. While Elena's was in surgery, we all had blood draw to be tested to see if any of us is a match to be her bone marrow donor.

Please pray that one of us will be the perfect match!

In Him,

The Tates

    1. I thought of you all many times today. I can see that you are taking this one step at a time--the only way that any successful journey begins. May you all have a peaceful night's rest. I will pray for germ-free incisions and a perfect match.
      Love to you all,

  5. Hey Sweet Elena! I was out walking yesterday afternoon with a friend when I paused mid-step because I thought a frog was near my foot...turned out to be a rock! (I know call me old or blind, maybe both) And, I immediately thought of you. Now ALL rocks (and some frogs) have me praying for you and your family!!! Let us know when you are up for visitors. We all want to come by :)

Great is HIS faithfulness; His mercies are new everyday and HIS love endures forever.

  6. Great news from yesterday. Prayers for a restful weekend for all of you. I have pulled out my rock and rubbed it with my thumb for every prayer on WED, THUR, and today. My rock is pretty rough right now so I will try to rub it smooth!

    WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!
