Elena's pre-op appointment went well today. We met with the surgeon who will be removing her central line on Friday. He explained the procedure to Elena and asked her if she had any questions. Her only one was, "when can I take a shower?" He laughed and told her soon.
Elena told us after the visit that it wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be. It has got to be hard on her not knowing what to expect. She has said all along that she just wants it to be Friday already so all of this will be over!
Not yet, however. Tomorrow brings with it yet another visit to the clinic for more lab work and testing. The doctors are being very thorough in making sure that everything is on track for Elena's line removal surgery and we are grateful. She, however, is getting a little frustrated with these seemingly endless checks and re-checks.
Speaking of, we received a call this afternoon from day surgery at Scottish Rite wanting to set up a pre-anesthesia appointment for Elena for Thursday. With this being her only day without a scheduled appointment, combined with the fact that she has already had her share of procedures requiring anesthesia, we politely asked if this visit was absolutely necessary. They said that they will get back to us. Hopefully it will only be to tell us what time to arrive on Friday morning. :)
Please pray for Elena to have the patience and stamina needed to endure these next several days. Pray for good lab results and answers to questions tomorrow. Pray for God's hand to be in all of the details and for complete and total healing for Elena.
